Muslim Democrats - 2017 Summer Internship
The Muslim Democrats internship will offer an opportunity to strengthen community organizing skills, acquire media engagement acumen, and engage deeply in the political process, particularly in relation to American Muslims.
Role of Intern
Muslim Democrats is hiring a part-time summer intern (contract renewable during academic year) to engage with social media outreach and communication initiatives. Intern will work with the Outreach Coordinator, other staff, and Advisory Board members to articulate programming, promote events, and disseminate articles relevant to the American Muslim community.
Qualifications of Candidate
Current high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student with GPA 3.0+
Skilled at managing social media (i.e. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube)
Experience writing/ editing newsletters, blog posts, and press releases
Strong oral and written communication skills
Interest and/or experience with website design and digital media (including video and audio production)
Strong interest in current events, social justice, and civil liberty, especially in connection to American Muslims
Remote internships are acceptable. Muslim Democrats is based in Chicago, IL.
